首先，不得不说的题外话，就是夏洛蒂·勃朗特。她是最大的姐姐，一个弟弟酗酒，失去了工作，是家庭的负担。她想要办学校，可是没有人来报名。有一天，偶然她看见了两个妹妹写得诗，研究出版，可是虽然写得很美，却仅有两个人买。之后她与妹妹一齐写书，夏洛蒂写了一本《教师》，没有出版，两个妹妹的书却经过了。夏洛蒂没有灰心，还是努力地发疯似的写，写好了《简·爱》。审稿人看见这样的作品，欣喜若狂，不眠不休地批阅完了《简·爱》。两个妹妹分别出了《艾格尼丝·格雷》和《呼啸山庄》，给她们带来了极大的荣誉。
这本书所讲述的那个年代，重男轻女，女孩儿除非出生高贵，否则是没有好日子过的，简·爱就是那个最惨的孩子。但与其他人不一样的是，简·爱是一个敢于反抗、敢于争取自由和平等地位的一个妇女。
一开始，年幼的简·爱被表哥约翰欺负，她反抗了。她是那么的勇敢，深深吸引了我。自然是简·爱吃了亏，被关进了红房子。下头，是以恩人自居、冷酷无情的舅妈，简·爱有是那样一针见血地回击，使里德太太也害怕起来。她只是一个瘦弱的小女孩，没有身份没有地位没有钱，她能够这样，不怕挨打吗？在那个时代的人会惊呼：她在做什么？反抗吗？反抗有好结果吗？以里德太太这样身份的人完全能够虐待她甚至杀了她啊！简·爱害怕，她当然害怕，但她渴望的是那种平等和自由啊！
在后面，简·爱解答了：“我此刻跟你说话，并不是经过习俗、惯例，甚至不是经过我们的肉体——而是我的精神在和你的精神说话；就像两个进过了坟墓，我们站在上帝的脚边，是平等的——因为我们是平等的！”
这段话隐藏在那些长篇大论之中，但却深深震撼了我。就像那天她发疯一样回击约翰，揭穿里德，都告诉我们，简·爱也有自我的尊严，我们也有尊严，她努力维护自我的尊严，即便被人践踏、欺负，她依然顽强地告诉别人，我们是完全平等的！正是因为罗切斯特满足了简·爱的尊严，简·爱才同意成为罗切斯特的妻子。
简·爱很平凡，完全能够埋没在人群里。是的，她貌不惊人，身材矮小，一无所有，但她的气质是那样的出众，她的感情世界是那样的丰富。她的幸福都是她自我争夺出来的，自我反抗出来的！
夏洛蒂曾对自我的两个妹妹说过：“我要写一个女主角给你们看，她和我一样身材矮小，貌不惊人，然而她却要和你们所写的任何一个女主角更能引起读者的兴趣。”我只是想说，夏洛蒂，你做到了。
学着反抗，反抗那些不对的事物，维护自我的尊严，这是我从《简·爱》里学到的最美丽的东西。
